Petronet LNG Shares Gain Over 4% After Pacts With ONGC, Mahanagar Gas

Mumbai, January 28 (Udaipur Kiran): Shares of Petronet LNG traded firmly on the BSE on Tuesday after the company announced the signing of key agreements with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Mahanagar Gas.

Petronet LNG was trading at Rs. 289.70, up by Rs. 12.05 or 4.34 per cent from its previous close of Rs. 277.65 on the BSE. The stock opened at Rs. 278.35 and touched an intraday high of Rs. 290.60 and a low of Rs. 276.25. As many as 82,793 shares were traded on the counter during the session.

The BSE Group ‘A’ stock, with a face value of Rs. 10, has touched a 52-week high of Rs. 326.50 on May 15, 2025, and a 52-week low of Rs. 263.70 on December 16, 2025. Over the last one week, the scrip moved between a high of Rs. 290.60 and a low of Rs. 272.85. The company’s market capitalisation currently stands at Rs. 43,192.50 crore.

Promoter holding in the company stood at 50.00 per cent, while institutional investors and non-institutional investors held 39.75 per cent and 10.25 per cent respectively.

Petronet LNG has signed a master regasification agreement (MRA) with ONGC, under which the company will provide LNG regasification services to ONGC at its Dahej regasification terminal. This will enable ONGC to supply regasified natural gas to meet the requirements of its downstream consumers. The agreement will remain valid for a period of five years, with a provision for further extension based on mutual consent.

Separately, the company has entered into a master agreement with Mahanagar Gas, under which Petronet LNG will undertake procurement of LNG cargoes and sell regasified LNG to MGL. The agreement will be effective from January 27, 2026, and will remain valid for one year, with a provision for extension based on mutual agreement. The arrangement is aimed at providing operational and supply flexibility to MGL based on international spot prices.

Petronet LNG operates in the oil and natural gas sector, with its promoters including GAIL (India), ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation.
