Over 1,700 Police Personnel to Ensure Security During Udaipur’s Jagannath Rath Yatra on June 27

High-tech surveillance including drones and CCTV will secure the grand religious procession; detailed traffic diversions announced

Udaipur, Rajasthan – The historic and spiritually significant Jagannath Rath Yatra will take place on June 27, 2025, in Udaipur, beginning from the renowned Jagdish Temple. This year, the event will witness heightened security and surveillance, with more than 1,700 police officers and personnel, including 200 traffic police, deployed across the city.

According to District Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal, the entire police arrangement will be executed under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Umesh Ojha, with strong coordination between city administration, traffic control, and law enforcement.

Rath Yatra Route and Schedule

The ceremonial puja of Lord Jagannath will begin at 12:30 PM at Jagdish Temple. The procession will commence at 3:30 PM, with the idol of Lord Jagannath placed on a grand chariot. The yatra will pass through:

  • Ghantaghar

  • Bada Bazaar

  • Mochiwada

  • Bhadbhuja Ghaati

  • Teej Ka Chowk

  • Dhanmandi

  • Sthal Mandir

  • RMV Road

  • Kailash Colony

  • Kalaji-Goraji

  • Rangiwas

  • Ghaasghar

  • Bhatiyani Chohatta

The journey will culminate back at Jagdish Temple with a Maha Aarti.

Surveillance and Crowd Management Measures

To ensure a peaceful and orderly procession, the entire route will be monitored using:

  • CCTV cameras

  • Drone surveillance

  • Plain-clothed officers to deter thefts, pickpocketing, and suspicious activities

Traffic restrictions and diversions will also be enforced, with specific roads and intersections closed to public vehicular movement. Crane and tempo services will be used to remove illegally parked vehicles from no-parking zones.

Traffic Diversions and Restrictions (June 27)

From 11:00 AM until the end of the event, only vehicles participating in the yatra will be allowed in restricted zones. All others will be diverted. Citizens and shopkeepers are requested not to park vehicles on the route and to cooperate with traffic police. Major restrictions include:

  1. No entry from Chandpole to Jagdish Chowk

  2. No entry from Hathipole to Jagdish Chowk via Ghantaghar

  3. No entry from Teej Ka Chowk to Jagdish Chowk via Bhadbhuja Ghaati and Ghantaghar

  4. No entry from Rangiwas to Jagdish Chowk via Bhatiyani Chohatta

  5. No entry from old control room to Teliya Mata via Sthal Mandir, Marshal Chowraha, Mukherjee Chowk, Sindhi Bazaar

  6. RMV Road (Surajpole police station) will be a no-vehicle zone from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM

  7. No parking from Kalaji-Goraji Tiraha to Udiapol via Gulab Bagh Road and Barf Factory

  8. Two-wheelers of devotees attending the aarti may be parked inside RMV School Campus

Emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire services will be exempt from these restrictions.

Citizens are urged to avoid parking on main roads and no-parking zones. Traffic violators will face action, including vehicle towing by the Udaipur Traffic Police.

Authorities have appealed to the public to respect the movement regulations, avoid inconvenience, and help in making the Jagannath Rath Yatra a smooth and spiritually fulfilling event for all. Cooperation with police and civic officials is essential to maintain order and safety.
