Udaipur, May 25 – Hindustan Zinc’s flagship educational initiative, the Shiksha Sambal Program, is impacting over 1,500 students across six districts in Rajasthan this summer. The program, aimed at strengthening students’ knowledge in English, Mathematics, and Science, is being implemented through residential and non-residential summer training camps with a strong focus on holistic development.

The camps are currently being conducted in government schools across Udaipur, Salumber, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, and Ajmer, in collaboration with Vidya Bhawan Society, Udaipur.
A Structured Residential Learning Experience
In a first for many participants, over 300 students are living away from home for a month-long residential training camp being held from May 20 to June 18. These students, from classes 8, 10, and 12 (Science stream), are being trained in core academic subjects while also engaging in a rigorous daily routine that includes discipline, sports, personality development, and life skills.
The formal inauguration of the 8th annual residential summer camp was held at the Vidya Bhawan Auditorium, attended by key dignitaries including Murli Dhar Chaubisa (Additional District Education Officer), Anupam Nidhi (Head CSR, Hindustan Zinc & Vedanta), Rajendra Bhatt (CEO, Vidya Bhawan Society), Subhash Sharma, Dr. Kamini Upadhyay, and other board members and coordinators.
Integration of Emerging Technologies and Creative Learning
This year, the residential camp has been significantly upgraded with the introduction of digital classrooms, audio-visual learning, hands-on activities, pottery and clay art, and even robotics training. These creative additions aim to make learning engaging, interactive, and future-ready for students who often lack access to such tools in rural settings.
Approximately 200 students from class 10, 50 from class 8, and 50 from class 12 (Science) are participating in the Udaipur-based residential camps. In parallel, non-residential camps are being held at Chittorgarh, Dariba, Debari, Ajmer, Agucha, and Zawar, with around 1,200 students attending daily sessions in their respective locations.
A Legacy of Educational Upliftment
What started as a pilot project nine years ago has now grown into a vital component of Hindustan Zinc’s education CSR initiatives. Under the Shiksha Sambal Program, the company has been working for the last 20 years to provide academic support in government schools that lack subject-specific teachers, especially for Science, Mathematics, and English.
In these summer camps, students enrolling in higher classes are being taught by subject matter experts who use creative teaching methods to build foundational knowledge and enhance classroom engagement.
Beyond academics, students also participate in sports, cultural programs, and skill development activities, contributing to their overall personality growth and confidence.
