Udaipur, July 24: Marking World Brain Day and Organ Donation Awareness Month, Sai Tirupati University and its constituent colleges organised an organ donation awareness rally at the Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, Udaipur. The initiative aimed to spread scientific awareness about brain stem death, promote a positive attitude towards organ donation, and encourage people to pledge to donate their organs.
Rally Promotes Message of Organ Donation
The rally was flagged off from the college campus under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Dr Prashant Nahar and concluded at PIMS Hospital. Faculty members, resident doctors, interns, MBBS and nursing students, paramedical students, NSS volunteers and non-teaching staff participated enthusiastically.
The Vice-Chancellor and principals of the constituent colleges appealed to people to spread awareness with the message, “Organ Donation – The Greatest Gift of Life.”
Awareness Campaign Through Slogans
Participants carried banners and placards carrying messages such as “Organ Donation – The Greatest Gift of Life,” “One Organ Donor Can Save Many Lives,” and “Organ Donation After Brain Stem Death is the Highest Service to Humanity.”
During the rally, citizens were informed about the importance of organ donation, the concept of brain stem death and how organ donation can offer a new lease of life to patients suffering from serious illnesses.
Speakers Highlight Importance of Organ Donation
Speakers said organ donation is not merely a medical procedure but a symbol of compassion and the highest service to humanity. They noted that if more people make informed decisions about organ donation, thousands of patients could benefit from life-saving transplants.
They also urged people to create awareness about organ donation within their families and communities and actively support the public welfare campaign.
Officials and Faculty Attend Programme
Among those present were Registrar Dr Devendra Jain, Deputy Registrar Dr Kanupriya Tiwari, Principal Dr Suresh Goyal, Medical Director Dr Kamlesh Shekhawat, Dr Dilip Kumar Parik, Dr Khemchand Gupta of Venkateshwar Institute of Pharmacy, Dr Vijay Singh Rawat of Venkateshwar College of Nursing, Dr Mohammad Yunus of Venkateshwar College of Physiotherapy, along with principals, faculty members and staff of the constituent colleges.
The programme was coordinated by Professor Dr Pranav Kumar from the Department of Forensic Medicine, while Dr Srinidhi delivered the vote of thanks.
The organisers said the Organ Donation Monitoring Unit, NSS volunteers, faculty members and supporting departments played an important role in the successful conduct of the programme. Participants also pledged to spread awareness about organ donation and promote a positive attitude towards the noble cause.
