Hindustan Zinc Launches New Zinc Alloys VedAZ and VedAyush for Galvanizing Industry

Udaipur, November 4, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and one of the leading global silver producers, has announced the launch of two next-generation zinc alloys for the galvanizing industry — VedAZ and VedAyush.
Developed to address the evolving requirements of the galvanizing industry, the specialized alloys aim to improve production efficiency, ensure consistent coating quality and enhance the long-term strength of galvanized steel.
Protecting industries and public infrastructure from rust and corrosion is becoming an increasingly important challenge. High-quality coatings and effective corrosion-resistant solutions are therefore essential. Advanced zinc alloy products can play a significant role in improving steel durability and ensuring the long-term safety of infrastructure.
Focus on Value-Added Zinc Products
Amarendu Prakash, CEO and Whole-Time Director of Hindustan Zinc, said there was significant potential for value-added zinc products in infrastructure, automobiles, engineering and consumer products.

VedAZ: Better Control and High-Quality Coatings
VedAZ is a specialized zinc-aluminium master alloy developed for the galvanizing industry.
It helps improve control over the aluminium content in the galvanizing bath, supporting uniform coating thickness and better surface quality. The alloy also helps reduce zinc loss and the formation of unwanted residues, known as dross.
These benefits can help lower production costs and improve resource utilization.
VedAyush: Enhanced Protection and Durability
VedAyush is a specialized zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy designed to provide improved corrosion resistance and long-lasting strength in demanding industrial conditions.
The magnesium in the alloy enhances coating adhesion, surface stability and protection against corrosion. The product is particularly suitable for applications in high-humidity areas, coastal regions and challenging industrial environments.
It can be used in infrastructure, automobile components, household appliances, power transmission and various industrial systems where durable, high-performance coated steel is required.
Advanced Alloy Manufacturing Facility in Rajasthan
Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Hindustan Zinc Alloys Private Limited (HZAPL), Hindustan Zinc operates a zinc alloy melting and casting plant at Rajpura-Dariba in Rajasthan, with an annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes.
The facility strengthens the domestic availability of specialized zinc alloys for different industrial requirements and contributes to India’s manufacturing supply chain.
The company’s specialized alloy portfolio also includes zinc die-casting grades such as HZA-3 and HZA-5. These grades are used to manufacture precision components for automobiles, electrical equipment, industrial hardware and consumer products.
Hindustan Zinc’s HZA-5 grade has also received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
The launch of VedAZ and VedAyush is an important step in strengthening Hindustan Zinc’s diversified portfolio of specialized zinc products. The company said it remains committed to working with galvanizers and industries to address the needs of India’s growing infrastructure and manufacturing sectors through improved and durable solutions.
The portfolio includes HZA-3 and HZA-5 zinc die-casting grades. HZA-5 has received BIS certification.
