Udaipur, May 31: Under the directives of the Central Government, a high-level civil defence mock drill was conducted on Saturday evening at the Udaipur Military Station under the initiative titled Operation SHIELD. The exercise simulated emergency scenarios including a drone attack and subsequent fire outbreak within the residential zone of the military area to assess preparedness and inter-agency coordination during crises.
Coordinated Response to Simulated Drone Strike
At exactly 5 PM, an alert was issued simulating a drone attack on the residential sector of the military station. Following the alert, information was escalated from the military headquarters to the police control room, triggering a rapid response protocol.
Emergency services, including district administration, Udaipur police, SDRF, civil defence units, fire brigade, medical personnel, Scouts and Guides, and NSS volunteers, swiftly mobilised and reached the site at the Govardhan Vilas-based military station. The exercise was designed to replicate a live scenario of destruction caused by the drone strike, fire breakout, and civilians trapped under debris.
Real-Time Rescue and Relief Operations
The drill involved dynamic coordination among all agencies. Firefighters worked to douse the flames, while rescue teams used various equipment to evacuate trapped individuals. Injured participants were provided with immediate medical assistance and were moved to hospitals as part of the simulation. The aim was to demonstrate the speed and effectiveness of coordinated emergency response during a multi-agency crisis.

Several senior government and defence officials supervised the drill. Those in attendance included Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani, Inspector General Rajesh Meena, Military Station Commandant V. Nair, District Collector Namit Mehta, Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal, Additional District Magistrate Deependra Singh Rathore, Additional Divisional Commissioner Chhoga Ram Dewasi, SDM Girwa Sonika Kumari, Chief Fire Officer Babulal Chaudhary, and CMHO Dr. Ashok Aditya among others.
The joint operation successfully highlighted the importance of readiness, swift coordination, and effective use of resources to manage complex emergency scenarios such as drone attacks, which are increasingly becoming a real threat in modern warfare and urban security landscapes.
