Nita Ambani Performs Groundbreaking Ceremony for ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray’; Over 5,000 People to Get a Home
Mumbai, November 1, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani performed the groundbreaking ceremony for ‘Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray’ in Karjat, Maharashtra, on Sunday. Spread across approximately 100 acres, the proposed campus will provide a home-like environment and care for more than 5,000 orphaned children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Isha Ambani was also present at the ceremony. The non-profit initiative of Reliance Foundation will be developed in phases after receiving the necessary approvals.

Nita Ambani Says Initiative Is Close to Her Family’s Heart
Speaking at the ceremony, Nita Ambani said Anant Ashray was very close to her and her family’s heart. She expressed hope that parents who have spent their lives worrying about who would care for their children after them would find reassurance that their children would always have a home and family.
“As a mother, my greatest hope is that parents who have worried throughout their lives about who will care for their children after they are gone can feel assured that their children will always have a home and a family,” she said.
She added that the initiative would give people of all ages an opportunity to live with dignity and look forward to each new day with hope.
More Than Just a Shelter
Anant Ashray has been envisioned not merely as a shelter but as a community where everyone receives respect, care and a sense of belonging.
The campus will have small, family-style homes with specially appointed caregivers. Individual plans for healthcare, education and personal development will be prepared according to each resident’s needs.
The project is expected to develop into a community of around 15,000 people, including residents, medical specialists, staff members and their families.
Hospital, Rehabilitation and Education Facilities Planned
The proposed campus will include a specialised hospital, rehabilitation centre, physiotherapy services and other medical facilities. Residents will also have access to education, sports, music and art activities.
Employment and skill development opportunities will be created through facilities such as a bakery, café and handicraft centres.
A temple, gardens and a farm designed to encourage interaction with animals, with support from Vantara, are also planned within the campus. People from nearby villages will be able to access some of its facilities.
Initiative Launched on Nita Ambani’s Birthday
The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Nita Ambani’s birthday. In her address, she described the initiative as a small gift from a mother at the feet of Mother India.
The project aims to create a supportive community where orphaned children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities can access care, opportunities and a family-like environment.
