BJP Candidates Shifted to Resort Ahead of Elections

Udaipur, November 2: The BJP has initiated a strategy to consolidate its candidates for the Udaipur District Council elections by relocating them to a resort in Rajsamand. Following the completion of voting in two phases, over 25 candidates were transported to the resort via buses and private vehicles. This move aims to keep the candidates united as they prepare to celebrate Diwali away from home. The final phase of voting is scheduled for November 3, after which all remaining candidates will also be summoned to the resort.
A total of 47 wards are undergoing elections, with two phases already completed and voting for the remaining eight wards set for November 3. Party sources indicate that candidates from wards where voting has concluded received calls on Sunday instructing them to reach the resort. Some candidates have cited personal commitments, saying they would arrive by Monday.
Candidates are expected to remain at the resort until November 26, coinciding with the election schedule that includes vote counting on November 20, the election of the district chief on November 25, and the election of the deputy district chief on November 26. The party’s objective is to prevent any political maneuvering after the results and maintain unity among its candidates.
Discussions regarding potential candidates for the district chief position have already begun within the party. Names such as Chandragupt Singh Chouhan, Dalichand Dangi, Himmat Singh Jhala, Pratibha Nagda, and Ghanshyam Menaria are being considered. Chandragupt Singh Chouhan has previously served as the district president of BJP Rural, while Dalichand Dangi has been an MLA from Mavli. Himmat Singh Jhala has contested from Vallabhnagar, and Pratibha Nagda is a former head of the Badgaon Panchayat Samiti. Ghanshyam Menaria’s name is also in the mix.
The political dynamics surrounding the district chief candidacy involve senior party leaders. Chandragupt Singh Chouhan and Dalichand Dangi are believed to be associated with the Gulabchand Kataria faction, while Pratibha Nagda and Ghanshyam Menaria are considered close to Udaipur Rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena. Himmat Singh Jhala’s connections with MP CP Joshi and other senior leaders have also brought him into the conversation. However, the final picture will only become clear after the vote counting on November 20.
