Udaipur : A man travelling in a private sleeper coach bus was arrested in Udaipur city after 2.855 kilograms charas was found in his possession, police said. The charas worth run in lakhs in the international market, though its actual valuation is to be done yet. The charas was kept in three packets of Khaki colour which was sealed with tape.
Accused Shamshuddin Chheepa (60), resident of Dani Limda in Ahmedabad, was arrested on wednesday late night near Rajasthan College of Agriculture where the local unit of the Special Operation Group and Surajpole police team stopped the bus and held a random search of the passengers and their baggage. The police had a tip off a passenger carrying weapons to be supplied in Ahmedabad in a private sleeper coach bus coming from Neemuch. The special team chased the bus after it crossed Debari and the cops made the driver halt the bus near Surajpole around 1.10 am. The accused was asleep when the police woke him up for checking.
“The accused was taking the charas from Jawad (MadhyaPradesh) to Ahmedabad. He had hidden the drug stock inside clothes kept in a black handbag he was carrying” Sidhanth Sharma, additional SP, SOG said. A case has been registered against him under section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by SOG inspector Abdul Rehman at the Surajpole station. Further investigations are on to know where the drug was meant to be supplied for.
