Udaipur, May 13: In a significant operation led by the Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, the Excise Department has seized illegal English liquor worth approximately ₹1.25 crore in Udaipur and Hanumangarh.
Under the leadership of Additional Excise Commissioner Pradeep Singh Sangawat, Deputy Commissioner Pradyumna Singh Chundawat, and District Excise Officer Aadar Ram Dahiya, a truck container was searched at the Kherwada area’s Khandi Obari toll plaza in Udaipur. The operation uncovered 330 cartons of illegal liquor valued at around ₹30 lakh, which was reportedly being supplied to Gujarat. The accused, Masri Kodyatar from Gujarat, was arrested at the scene.
In another operation, 45 cartons containing 2,160 pints of liquor were seized, estimated to be worth about ₹5 lakh. The team involved in this operation included Excise Inspectors Jitendra Singh Rathore, Rahul Sharma, Kailashchandra, Mangilal, Banshilal, and Shankarlal.
Meanwhile, in Hanumangarh, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Pomaram Rohin, 1,070 cartons of liquor were seized from a 12-wheeler truck on the Bharat Mala Expressway. The liquor, hidden beneath bags of castor bean husks, was being transported from Punjab to Gujarat, with an estimated value of ₹90 lakh. The accused, Manglaram Bishnoi, was also arrested.
The Excise Department has stated that strict actions against illegal liquor trafficking will continue under a zero-tolerance policy across the state.
