The first incident occurred on Wednesday evening near Uthmeshwar Mahadev in Rohida Jod, when 12-year-old Vimla was returning home with other girls after grazing goats. A leopard suddenly attacked from behind, sinking its teeth into her neck and attempting to drag her away. Hearing her screams, villagers rushed to the spot, forcing the leopard to flee. Despite their efforts, the girl succumbed to her injuries. Her body was taken to the government hospital in Rohida for post-mortem before being handed over to her family.

On Thursday morning, around 8 am, the leopard struck again, attacking Suresh, a resident of Boribujh village, while he was walking near his house. The animal pounced from behind and knocked him down. Villagers rushed to his rescue, causing the leopard to flee, but Suresh sustained injuries.

Earlier, suspicions were also raised about a leopard attack in Pindwara police station area after a man’s body was found, though the cause remained uncertain. With the recent consecutive incidents, fear has spread among locals.

Rohida Police Station Officer Maya Pandit confirmed the attacks, stating: “In the past 16 hours, the leopard has attacked two people — one died, and another was injured. The Forest Department has deployed teams and set up cages to capture the leopard.”
