Kalindi Express Narrowly Escapes Major Accident in Farrukhabad

Farrukhabad, November 12 (Udaipur Kiran): A major train accident was averted in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad district on Tuesday night due to the alertness of railway officials. The Kalindi Express, which was travelling from Prayagraj to Bhiwani, narrowly escaped a mishap after a broken section of railway track was detected between Kamalganj and Khudaganj stations.

According to officials, the train was scheduled to pass through the section around 9 p.m. when information was received about a track fracture near Kataroli Patti in Kamalganj. Acting swiftly, the railway authorities immediately halted all up and down trains and brought the traffic under control.

As a precautionary measure, the Kalindi Express was stopped for about 40 minutes at Gursahaiganj station, while the Farrukhabad–Kanpur passenger train was held at Kamalganj for nearly three hours. Another train coming from Kanpur towards Farrukhabad was stopped at Khudaganj station.

Teams of railway engineers and GRP personnel rushed to the site and began repair work. The damaged section was restored late at night, after which train services resumed gradually.

Railway officials have launched an investigation to determine whether the track fracture occurred due to a technical fault or was a result of sabotage.

Train guard Ghanshyam confirmed, “The track had developed a fracture, which is why the Kalindi Express was halted at Gursahaiganj. The matter is under investigation.”
