iPhone 16 lineup is expected to come with additional buttons and an improved camera. Apple is also believed to have a record button for recording video. A computer-aided design (CAD) sketch of the iPhone 16 has recently surfaced online, highlighting the design elements of the base model. The renders show a vertical slim camera on the iPhone 16 instead of the current diagonal camera. The action button and the assumed capture button are also visible on the assumed diagrams.
Tipster Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) posted CAD renderings of the iPhone 16 on X (formerly on Twitter). The leaked renders show a slimmer iPhone X-style camera unit with two camera sensors in the vertical body of the tablet. The flash is located outside the pump. Vanilla iPhone 15 models have a diagonal camera setup.
There is an action button that replaces the mute button on the iPhone 16. The Action button, first introduced on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro models, lets you turn on the flashlight, open the camera, or access app shortcuts.
The assumed recording button is located on the left rear panel of the iPhone 16, below the power button. You can record a video with this button. The button can be pressure sensitive and allows users to adjust focus and zoom in and out. Apple is expected to add spatial video recording to base models, as well as a new camera setup. Currently, only the iPhone 15 Pro models can record spatial videos.
The iPhone 16 series will be released in the second half of 2024. The upcoming lineup will consist of five different models: iPhone 16 SE, iPhone 16 Plus SE, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The vanilla iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be equipped with the A18 Bionic chip, which is TSMC 3 nm process technology.
