New Delhi, April 27 (Udaipur Kiran): The India Meteorological Department has issued a widespread weather alert, forecasting heavy rainfall between April 28 and May 1 across several parts of the country, including more than 50 districts in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the department, changing weather conditions driven by a fresh western disturbance and a developing cyclonic circulation at lower levels will trigger rainfall from April 27 to May 2 in multiple regions, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR, and Bihar.
In Uttar Pradesh, weather is expected to shift from April 27, with thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall likely in eastern parts. Heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning is expected in some districts on April 28 and 29. Wind speeds may range between 30 to 50 kmph during this period.
Several districts, including Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Moradabad, Agra, Bareilly, Sitapur, Gorakhpur, and Deoria, are likely to witness rain and thunderstorms.
In Uttarakhand, heavy rainfall is expected between April 27 and April 29, particularly in districts such as Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. Wind speeds of 40–50 kmph are also likely.
The northeastern states — Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura — are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall between April 27 and May 2, with Assam and Meghalaya likely to witness intense downpours in isolated areas.
Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR is expected to experience high temperatures ranging from 43°C to 45°C on April 27, along with dust storms and hot winds. Weather conditions are likely to change from April 28 onwards.
Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Sikkim may witness thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, with chances of hailstorms in some areas.
The IMD has also advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea between April 27 and May 1 along the coasts of northern Odisha, West Bengal, and parts of the Bay of Bengal due to rough weather conditions.
