IG Orders FIR in Udaipur Land Dispute Case Involving Obscene Video Circulation

Udaipur, May 1, 2025 – In a shocking case of digital defamation and criminal intimidation linked to a land dispute, Inspector General of Police (IG) Rajesh Meena has directed Sarada Police Station to immediately register a First Information Report (FIR) and initiate legal action against multiple accused for circulating an obscene video allegedly targeting a woman from Dhakard village in Udaipur district.

Woman Implicated Using Morphed Obscene Video

The case pertains to a married woman from the Dangi community, whose image was reportedly misused to circulate a pornographic video featuring a woman with similar facial features. The video was allegedly shared on social media to defame her and her family amid an ongoing land dispute.

The woman, accompanied by her father Walchand, approached the IG at his office and submitted a formal complaint. A CD of the viral video was also handed over as evidence. The complaint names over a dozen individuals, all residents of Jhadol, including:

The accused allegedly morphed the woman’s photograph and used digital tools to create a doctored clip, falsely portraying her in compromising situations.

Police Inaction Led to Escalation

The victim’s family had earlier submitted complaints to the Sarada Police Station and the SP office in Salumber, but reportedly received no response. With no action taken at the local level, they escalated the issue directly to the Inspector General, who instructed police to register the case under relevant sections of the IT Act and IPC, including charges related to outraging the modesty of a woman and cybercrime.

Land Dispute Motivated the Crime

According to the complaint, the woman’s father had recently claimed land in the village, which allegedly triggered the malicious actions by the accused. It is alleged that the same group had earlier orchestrated a social boycott against the family and have now escalated matters with this serious violation of privacy and character assassination.

Legal Action Initiated

Following the IG’s directive, Sarada Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Legal proceedings under the Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code are underway.

The incident highlights the growing misuse of digital platforms in rural disputes and the urgent need for responsive action by local law enforcement agencies to prevent such grave violations of individual dignity and rights.
