Puducherry, March 6 : The iconic pier at Rock Beach here and constructed during the French regime partially collapsed due to high waves in view of the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal.
According to nearby fishermen, it collapsed and sank in the sea at 0045 hours after midnight last night. Since, it was already in a dilapidated condition, tourists were not allowed to walk on it. However, occasionally some film crews were allowed to shoot on it. Odeon Saalai police rushed to the scene.
