Encounter in Etah: One Criminal Injured, Another Arrested

Etah, May 21: In a late-night encounter on Wednesday, the police of Kotwali Nagar in Etah engaged with criminals, resulting in one suspect being injured by gunfire and another being apprehended. During the encounter, authorities recovered illegal firearms, stolen goods, and a motorcycle without a number plate, along with cash amounting to ₹7,200.

According to reports, around 12:30 AM, the police were checking suspicious individuals and vehicles near a pond on the road leading to Aligarh from Ashok Vihar Colony. Two young men on a motorcycle without a number plate approached the police. When signaled to stop, the suspects opened fire on the police team. In the retaliatory action, one of the criminals was shot in the left leg and fell to the ground, while the other was captured on the spot.

The injured suspect was identified as Keshav, son of Rajendra Singh, a resident of Girdharpur in the Dado police station area of Aligarh. The arrested individual was identified as Ramsaran, son of Laturi Singh, from Dulichandpur in the Soron police station area of Kasganj.

Police investigations revealed that both suspects had stolen copper, oil, wires, and other materials from a transformer located near the vegetable market in the Kotwali Nagar area. Authorities believe the suspects may be linked to other transformer theft incidents as well.

From the arrested criminals, police recovered two illegal pistols, three live cartridges, four spent cartridges of .315 bore, the unregistered motorcycle, a cutter, a plain pliers, four wrenches, two spanners, and ₹7,200 in cash.

SP City Etah, Shwetabh Pandey, informed the media that the transformer of the electricity department was targeted for its copper coils and oil. A similar incident had occurred a few days earlier in the Kotwali Dehat area. Police are interrogating the suspects to gather information about other related crimes.
