Home Ministry Approves Prosecution of Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia in Corruption Cases

New Delhi, March 13  – The Union Home Ministry has granted approval for the prosecution of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia in corruption cases filed against them.

The approval was formally communicated by C.P. Vinod Kumar, Additional Secretary in the Home Ministry, through an official letter to the Principal Secretary of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor. The letter states that the Directorate of Vigilance, Government of Delhi, had sought permission under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) to proceed with investigations against former Delhi PWD Minister Satyendar Jain and former Education Minister Manish Sisodia.

  • Arrested on May 30, 2022, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on money laundering charges.
  • Allegedly involved in money laundering through four companies linked to him.
  • Spent 18 months in jail before securing bail on October 18, 2023.

  • Arrested in connection with corruption and money laundering allegations linked to the Delhi Excise Policy Scam.
  • Spent 17 months in jail before his release.
