Jaipur / Udaipur , July 14 – Heavy rainfall continued to batter several parts of Rajasthan on Monday, disrupting daily life and causing significant damage. Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Tonk, and Kota witnessed intense downpours, with rainfall levels ranging between 5 to 7 inches. As a result of the extreme weather, seven people lost their lives due to drowning, lightning strikes, and electric shocks.

Multiple Rain-Related Incidents Reported
In Kota, seven people were swept away by the swollen Chambal River—only one person could be rescued, while six remain missing. In Bhilwara’s Bijolia, two youths were carried away while trying to cross a flooded culvert at Chhayi Bai. They were rescued safely after an intense 90-minute operation by the Civil Defence team. Meanwhile, in Bandha Dharmapura, a girl riding a scooter was swept away in strong currents.
Chittorgarh also witnessed tragedy as three young men drowned in a waterfall, and a child was washed away in a drain. In Dholpur, a youth and a girl were reported missing after being swept away in a river.
In Jodhpur, heavy rains flooded the railway station premises, submerging tracks and leading to waterlogging across residential colonies and roads, particularly in Tinwari.
Widespread Rain Across the State
According to the India Meteorological Department, more than 25 cities across Rajasthan recorded moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday. Cities affected include Ajmer, Bhilwara, Tonk, Alwar, Jaipur, Pilani, Sikar, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Churu, Sriganganagar, Jalore, Nagaur, Dungarpur, Hanumangarh, Fatehpur, and Karauli.
As per the Water Resources Department, the highest rainfall was recorded in Bhainsrorgarh (Chittorgarh) at 174mm, followed by Bijolia (Bhilwara) at 172mm, Dooni (Tonk) at 146mm, and Niwai at 104mm. Other significant figures include Mandawa (Kota) with 111mm, Muklawa (Sriganganagar) with 96mm, Saira (Udaipur) with 90mm, and Degana (Nagaur) with 85mm.
Despite the rains, Barmer recorded the highest daytime temperature at 39.6°C, while Bikaner had the warmest night at 28.6°C.
Jaipur Sees Intermittent Showers, Drop in Temperature
In Jaipur, light to moderate showers continued throughout the day. Sporadic spells ranging from drizzle to steady rainfall were recorded. By 4 PM, the city had received 5mm of rainfall. The rain brought relief from the heat, causing a 3-degree drop in daytime temperatures. The maximum temperature was recorded at 28.6°C, and the minimum at 25°C.
Water Levels Rise in Bisalpur Dam
Bisalpur Dam saw a steady inflow of water over the past 24 hours, with 14cm added to its level. The Triveni River is currently flowing at 3 meters, and the dam’s current level has reached 314.09 RL meters, indicating a positive trend for the region’s water reserves.
