Jaipur, October 3 (Udaipur Kiran News): Rainfall continues across eastern and southern Rajasthan under the influence of a new weather system formed over the Bay of Bengal. On Friday, several cities, including Nagaur, recorded significant rainfall, with Nagaur witnessing nearly three inches of rain. With the activation of a new western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for October 5 and 6 across various parts of the state.
According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall was recorded in Sikar, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, and Jhalawar. Several areas in Nagaur district witnessed heavy showers. Meanwhile, Phalodi recorded the highest daytime temperature at 37°C, while Jaisalmer had the warmest night at 26.8°C.
Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, said that light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder is likely over parts of Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Kota, and Jaipur divisions on October 3 and 4.
Under the influence of the new western disturbance, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, and Shekhawati regions may experience intense thunder activity, strong winds (30–40 kmph), and moderate to heavy rainfall on October 5, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. Heavy rainfall is also expected in isolated parts of Bikaner and Shekhawati.
On October 6, the system is expected to have its maximum impact across the state, bringing thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) with rain in many areas of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions. Heavy rainfall is again possible in isolated parts of Bikaner and Shekhawati.
In eastern Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, and Udaipur divisions, thunderstorm and rain activities may continue till October 7. From October 8, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry across most parts of the state for the next week.
