Abhishek Sharma Breaks Suryakumar Yadavs World Record

Wellington, October 27: Abhishek Sharma‘s explosive century led India to a comfortable six-wicket victory against New Zealand in the third T20I on Tuesday. Chasing a target of 199 runs, India achieved the goal in just 13.2 overs. Abhishek, named Player of the Match, scored 113 runs off 38 balls, hitting 9 fours and 11 sixes, with an astonishing strike rate of 297.37. This was his fourth century in T20 International cricket.

Abhishek Sharma has now become the player with the most innings scoring 50 or more runs at a strike rate of over 200 in T20 International cricket, achieving this feat for the 14th time. He surpassed the previous record held by former Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, who had accomplished this 13 times.

In the match, New Zealand‘s bowlers struggled against Abhishek’s aggressive batting, and India secured a 3-0 lead in the five-match series. Young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi also contributed significantly with a quick 45 runs off 19 balls. Abhishek completed his century in just 35 balls and celebrated in his signature style, performing a meditation pose.

With this victory, India has now won three consecutive T20 series in New Zealand, having previously won 5-0 in 2020 and 1-0 in 2022.
