Central Employees to Receive Diwali Bonus

Mumbai, October 27: The central government has announced a Diwali bonus for eligible central employees, primarily benefiting those in Group C and non-gazetted Group B categories. This decision comes as a relief for many employees who have been eagerly awaiting the bonus alongside their dearness allowance (DA).

Eligible employees must have been in service as of March 31, 2026, and should have completed at least six months of continuous service during the financial year 2025-26. The bonus will not apply to Group A and gazetted officers.

The bonus amount will be calculated based on the average monthly salary or a cap of ₹7,000, whichever is lower. According to the Department of Expenditure’s rules, the daily rate for the bonus is determined by dividing the average monthly salary by 30.4, which is then multiplied by the number of days eligible for the bonus. For employees earning ₹7,000 or more monthly, the maximum bonus for 30 days amounts to ₹6,908.

Employees with shorter service periods will receive a proportionate amount, while those earning less than ₹7,000 will have their bonus calculated based on their actual salary. Temporary employees who have completed at least six months of continuous service without any breaks will also be eligible for the bonus.

This initiative aims to provide financial support to central employees during the festive season, ensuring they can celebrate Diwali with added joy.
