Abhishek Sharma Credits Coaching Staff for Explosive Century

Wellington, October 27: Abhishek Sharma delivered a stunning performance in the third T20 International match against New Zealand, scoring 113 runs off just 38 balls. He reached his half-century in just 15 balls and completed his century in 35 balls. After the match, he expressed that he had envisioned this innings beforehand and credited his coaching staff and throwdown bowlers for his success.
In a post-match interview, Abhishek shared insights on his aggressive batting style, stating, “The reason was quite simple. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and I were enjoying our game. While fielding, we noticed that the ball was bouncing a bit more, and one side of the ground was shorter, which we targeted. Vaibhav got off to a good start, and we built our innings from there. It’s not easy, but it all depends on preparation. I want to give credit to our coaching staff and the throwdown bowlers. Our practice session yesterday was good, and I wanted to capitalize on that.”
Feeling elated after his innings, Abhishek added, “I believe I manifested this inning to a great extent, and it happened. As a batter, we don’t chase milestones like Yuvraj Singh’s record of 12 balls. We always want to win games for the team. Both Vaibhav and I wanted to achieve that. This innings and winning the match feels great.”
Indian captain Shreyas Iyer praised both Abhishek and Vaibhav Suryavanshi for their remarkable performances. While Abhishek scored a blazing century, Vaibhav contributed with 45 runs off 19 balls, including four fours and four sixes. India successfully chased down the target of 199 runs in just 13.2 overs.
