Udaipur, April 15 (Udaipur Kiran): In view of rising temperatures and weather warnings, the district administration has gone into alert mode under the direction of District Collector Gaurav Agrawal. Necessary measures are being taken to protect residents and livestock from the impact of the ongoing heatwave.

Nodal Officer Appointed
The National Disaster Management Authority has identified 23 states, including Rajasthan, as vulnerable to heatwaves. Accordingly, the Relief Commissioner has been tasked with preparing and implementing a Heatwave Action Plan at the state and district levels. As per orders from the State Disaster Management Department, the Additional District Collector (Administration) has been appointed as the nodal officer for heatwave management in the district. The officer will directly monitor preparedness, awareness campaigns, and relief efforts.
Various IEC activities will also be conducted to spread awareness about heatwave safety. All sub-divisional officers, tehsildars, municipal authorities, and 12 key departments, including the health department, have been placed on alert.
Public Advisory Issued
The administration has issued do’s and don’ts guidelines for public safety during the heatwave and urged people to seek immediate medical advice in case of any health issues.
Do’s:
- Drink plenty of water, buttermilk, lassi, and fresh fruit juices regularly.
- Wear light, loose, and cotton clothes.
- Cover your head with a cap, cloth, or umbrella while going out.
- Consume fluids like ORS, lemon water, aam panna, and coconut water.
- Avoid going out in the sun, especially between 12 noon and 3 pm.
- Keep homes cool by using curtains and proper ventilation.
Don’ts:
- Avoid direct exposure to strong sunlight.
- Do not consume excessive tea, coffee, alcohol, or carbonated drinks as they cause dehydration.
- Do not step out on an empty stomach.
- Avoid heavy physical activity during peak afternoon hours.
- Do not leave children or pets alone in parked vehicles.
- Avoid wearing synthetic, dark-coloured, or tight clothing.
Directions to Departments
The District Collector has instructed the health and education departments to ensure proper arrangements in medical institutions for treating heat-related illnesses and to ensure the safety of school children. Power and water supply departments have been directed to maintain uninterrupted services, while animal husbandry and agriculture departments have been asked to take necessary measures to protect livestock and crops.
