Mumbai, April 4, 2025 — Shares of HDFC Bank Ltd climbed on Friday after the bank reported a strong 15.8% year-on-year (YoY) growth in average deposits for the March 2025 quarter, underlining robust retail traction and continued dominance in India’s banking sector.

The stock was trading at Rs. 1,826.00, up 1.80% or Rs. 32.30 from its previous close of Rs. 1,793.70 on the BSE. It touched an intraday high of Rs. 1,842.20, with over 177,000 shares traded during the session. The bank’s market capitalization currently stands at Rs. 13.94 lakh crore, maintaining its status as one of India’s most valuable companies.
Strong Deposit Growth Bolsters Confidence
HDFC Bank reported average deposits of Rs. 25.28 trillion for the March 2025 quarter, up from Rs. 21.83 trillion in the same period last year and 3.1% higher compared to Rs. 24.53 trillion in the December 2024 quarter. The rise in deposit inflows indicates heightened trust among retail and institutional depositors amidst a challenging global economic environment.
The average CASA (Current Account Savings Account) deposits also saw a modest but stable increase of 5.7% YoY, reaching Rs. 8.29 trillion in March 2025 compared to Rs. 7.84 trillion in the year-ago quarter.
Advances See Steady Expansion
The bank’s average advances under management stood at Rs. 26.95 trillion, reflecting a 7.3% YoY growth over Rs. 25.13 trillion in March 2024. Sequentially, advances grew 2.6% compared to Rs. 26.28 trillion in the December 2024 quarter, demonstrating healthy demand for credit across segments including retail, SME, and corporate lending.

HDFC Bank’s 52-week high stands at Rs. 1,880.00 (hit in December 2024), while its 52-week low is Rs. 1,430.15. The recent rally reflects market optimism around the bank’s consistent performance and its ability to maintain growth momentum amid macroeconomic volatility.
Institutional investors remain bullish, holding a combined 83.67% stake, signaling confidence in the bank’s fundamentals and strategic direction.
