Google Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL could feature an-all 50MP camera setup

Google Pixel 9 Pro

Google will unveil its new Pixel 9 series on August 13, and if rumors are to be believed, there will be three phones on offer: the vanilla Pixel 9, the Pixel 9 Pro, and the Pixel 9 XL. While the designs of these three phones are all over the internet, not much is known about the hardware.

Now, details have emerged about the three phones’ cameras, which hint at some major improvements to the Pixel 8 phones.

Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 XL get ultra-wide and telephoto camera updates

The Android Commission reports that the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will receive major improvements.

Both models have a 50-megapixel triple rear camera with Sony IMX858 ultra-wide-angle and telephoto sensors. The front camera is said to be equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensor, which is primarily designed for rear cameras.

The Pixel 9 is expected to get an update to its ultra-wide-angle sensor.

The standard Pixel 9 will see an improvement, as its ultra-wide-angle camera will be upgraded to the same 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensor found on the Pro models. Additionally, the Pixel 9 has a front-facing camera with autofocus, a feature previously only available on the Pro models.

The main camera of all three devices retained the 50-megapixel Samsung GNK sensor that debuted in the Pixel 8 series.

Surprisingly, Google seems to have kept the controversial infrared thermometer feature on the Pro models, although its practical use is limited.

The upcoming version of the Pixel Camera app will be released alongside the Pixel 9 series, which will support 8K video recording at 30fps. However, it is not clear which devices support this feature.

The Pixel 9 series is expected to launch on August 13.
