Bandipora, May 31: Northern Kashmir’s scenic Razdan Top was blanketed under two inches of fresh snow on Saturday morning, leading authorities to suspend traffic on the Gurez-Bandipora road until further orders. The snowfall, coupled with continuous rain in the region, has led to a significant drop in temperature.

According to the SDM Office in Gurez, the road closure has been implemented as a precautionary measure due to slippery conditions and poor visibility caused by the ongoing snowfall.
Avinash Kumar, Officer Commanding of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) responsible for road maintenance in the region, confirmed that snowfall is still continuing at Razdan Pass and visibility remains poor.
“The road will be reopened once snowfall ceases and safety conditions are restored,” he said.
The Gurez-Bandipora route, which passes through Razdan Top, is a critical lifeline for residents of the remote Gurez valley and remains highly susceptible to weather-related closures, especially during winter and early summer snow spells.
Residents and travelers have been advised to refrain from attempting travel on the route until official clearance is issued.
