Sitapur, October 17 (Udaipur Kiran): In a tragic road accident early Friday morning, four people were killed and a 12-year-old girl was critically injured after a private ambulance travelling from Dehradun to Varanasi crashed near Ataria police station area in Sitapur district, about 20 km before Lucknow, on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway.

According to police, the accident occurred when one of the ambulance’s tyres burst, causing the vehicle to lose control and plunge into a roadside ditch near Hind Hospital in Ataria. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was completely damaged, and the sight of bodies scattered by the roadside left passersby horrified.
Local police rushed to the spot upon receiving information from bystanders and immediately launched a rescue operation. So far, four people, including a woman pedestrian, have died, while the injured girl is undergoing treatment at Hind Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Vishal Pandey (40), Divyanshu Pandey (44) — both sons of Gopal Swaroop Pandey from Dehradun, and Gurmeet (23), the ambulance driver from Haridwar. The fourth victim, an unidentified woman aged around 45, was reportedly standing near the accident site when she was hit.
Police said the ambulance (registration number UK 07-PA-2020) was transporting a patient from Dehradun to Varanasi for treatment when the accident took place.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and efforts are underway to inform the victims’ families. Police have registered the incident and are conducting further investigation.
