Mirzapur, 2 September (Kiran News): Continuous heavy rainfall in both hilly and plain areas is having a significant impact in Uttar Pradesh as well. In Mirzapur, due to ongoing rains, the water level of the Ahraura Dam rose sharply on Monday night. Considering the situation, the irrigation department opened four gates of the dam by two feet each, leading to the release of approximately 1,250 cusecs of water per second.

Additionally, nearly 550 cusecs of water per second is flowing into the Ahraura Dam from the Dogiya Dam. As of 11 a.m. on Tuesday, the water level of the dam was recorded at 359.03 meters.
Irrigation Department Junior Engineer Omprakash Rai stated that due to heavy rainfall in the dam’s catchment area at night, the water level increased, and for safety reasons, the gates were opened to release excess water.
With the dam gates open, the water flow in the Gadai River intensified. Near Madapur village on the Ahraura–Chakia road, water began flowing about four feet above the bridge, causing this route to remain closed for the 11th consecutive day. Commuters continue to rely on alternative routes for travel.
