New Delhi, 2 September (Kiran News): Amid ongoing Operation Sindoor, military activities have intensified along the India-Pakistan coastal region in the Arabian Sea. The Indian Air Force has commenced a two-day aerial exercise near Gujarat and Rajasthan, close to the Arabian Sea, starting Tuesday morning at around 11 a.m. This exercise will continue until 2 p.m. on 3 September. The air exercise area is located just 200 nautical miles from the Karachi coast of Pakistan, and about 70 nautical miles from the Pakistan-controlled airspace.
According to the Indian Air Force, this is a routine exercise for which a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) had already been issued. A NOTAM or Air Mission Notice is a type of information that provides essential notifications or warnings about specific locations or situations in the aviation sector. The purpose is to inform flight operators about any circumstances not available in standard publications but necessary for safe operations. The NOTAM serves to alert stakeholders to any unusual or exceptional situations that could affect parts of the national airspace system.
The two-day Air Force exercise in the Arabian Sea is being held close to Pakistani airspace, just 200 nautical miles from the Karachi coast. The exercise commenced at 11 a.m. on 2 September and will conclude at 2 p.m. on 3 September. Air Force officials have described this activity as a regular training mission, and, as per protocol, an official NOTAM has been issued to alert aviation stakeholders.
During Operation Sindoor, on 11-12 August, both Indian and Pakistani navies conducted separate naval exercises in the Arabian Sea. Both navies issued NOTAMs restricting air traffic over their respective waters during the exercises. While the Indian Navy did not participate in Operation Sindoor itself, its warships demonstrated maritime strength through exercises in the Arabian Sea. Pakistan’s navy also held drills in its maritime zone, while the Indian Navy conducted firing exercises. Following the Pahalgam terror attack, concerns over possible Indian military action prompted the Pakistani armed forces to conduct advanced weapon demonstrations near the Line of Control and in the Arabian Sea.
