Hooghly : Ferry service will be restored before Chhath Puja at Palta Ghat of Champdani connecting Hooghly and North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal respectively at Champdani and Nawabganj. Ferry service has been stopped at this ghat for the last three years due to various reasons.

There is some work left on the Nawabganj Ferry Ghat situated on the other bank of river Ganga. That too will be completed soon.””
””Yesterday I had a meeting with State Transport Minister Snehasish Chakraborty. Before Chhath Puja, some other ghats including Palta Ghat of Champdani would be restarted. Keeping in view the safety of the passengers, small boats will be replaced by a vessels at every ghat. The Transport Minister has also assured to provide transport vessels at Champdani Ghat at the earliest.”” added Mishra.
Notably, more than half a million people living at and around Champdani town will feel ease in journey after the restoration of ferry service at Palta Ghat.
