Defence Stocks Gain as DAC Clears ₹79,000 Crore Procurement Proposals for Armed Forces

Mumbai, October 24 (Udaipur Kiran): Shares of major defence companies traded higher on Thursday after the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approved a series of capital acquisition proposals worth around ₹79,000 crore for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

At the BSE, Bharat Dynamics was trading at ₹1,537.50, up ₹22.55 or 1.49% from its previous close of ₹1,514.95. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) gained ₹21.95 or 0.46% to trade at ₹4,830.80, while Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) rose ₹2.70 or 0.65% to ₹421.20.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the DAC meeting held on October 23, 2025, granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for several key procurements across the three services, further strengthening India’s defence modernization drive.

For the Indian Army, the approvals include:

• Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II (NAMIS)

• Ground-Based Mobile ELINT System (GBMES)

• High Mobility Vehicles (HMVs) with Material Handling Cranes

For the Indian Navy, AoN was given for the acquisition of:

• Landing Platform Docks (LPDs)

• 30mm Naval Surface Guns (NSG)

• Advanced Lightweight Torpedoes (ALWT)

• Electro Optical Infra-Red Search and Track Systems (EO IRST)

• Smart Ammunition for 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mounts

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force received AoN for the Collaborative Long Range Target Saturation/Destruction System (CLRTS/DS) and other advanced proposals.

Analysts believe the DAC’s approval of such large-scale procurements will boost domestic defence manufacturing, in line with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, and is likely to benefit key players like HAL, BEL, and Bharat Dynamics through new contract opportunities.
