BREAKING: CP Radhakrishnan Announced as NDA’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Nomination on 21 August

New Delhi, 18 August (Kiran News). Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan will be the NDA’s candidate for the post of Vice President. The announcement was made by BJP National President JP Nadda following a key meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board held on Sunday. The meeting saw the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several senior leaders.

Radhakrishnan will file his nomination on 21 August, with all chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from NDA-ruled states expected to be present. Voting for the Vice Presidential election will be held on 9 September, and counting will also take place the same day. The last date for nomination is 21 August, while candidates can withdraw their nominations until 25 August.

The development comes after Jagdeep Dhankhar suddenly resigned from the post of Vice President on the night of 21 July. Dhankhar, who is 74 years old, had a term until 10 August 2027.

CP Radhakrishnan, originally from Tamil Nadu, is currently serving as the Governor of Maharashtra. In the past, he has held gubernatorial roles in Jharkhand, Puducherry, and Telangana as well. JP Nadda stated, “After discussions with everyone and seeking suggestions, it was decided to nominate CP Radhakrishnan as the NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate. He was born on 20 October 1957.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the party office to participate in the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting, which was attended by BJP President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and other senior party leaders.
