Patna, November 8 (Udaipur Kiran): The first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 concluded successfully across 121 constituencies in 18 districts, recording a voter turnout of 65.08%, according to figures released by the State Election Commission.
This marks a 7.79% increase in turnout compared to the 2020 Assembly elections, which saw 57.29% voter participation. When compared to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the turnout stood at 56.28%, the increase is even higher at 8.8%, reflecting a stronger public engagement in this year’s polls.
Smooth and Peaceful Polling
Election officials confirmed that polling was conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner across all constituencies in the first phase. The scrutiny process has been completed successfully in the presence of observers appointed by the Election Commission of India.
A total of 83 candidates and 385 election agents participated in the scrutiny, bringing the combined number to 468. Officials stated that no reports of irregularities or re-polling requirements were received from any polling station.
Strict EVM Security Measures
All Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), including Ballot Units, Control Units, and VVPATs, used during polling have been sealed and secured in designated strong rooms under three-tier security arrangements. CCTV surveillance has been installed at all storage points to ensure complete transparency and protection of the polling materials.
Machines found faulty during mock polls and other spare EVMs and VVPATs have also been secured in separate strong rooms as per the Election Commission’s guidelines.

The vote counting for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections is scheduled to take place on November 14, 2025.
Officials expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of voting, noting that the rise in voter turnout demonstrates greater political awareness and participation among citizens across the state.
