Banda, UP: 3 Businessmen Booked for Alleged Rape and Blackmail of Three Women Friends

A horrifying case of sexual assault, blackmail, and exploitation has emerged from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, where three prominent local businessmen have been booked for allegedly raping three women under the pretext of offering them jobs, forcibly making them consume alcohol, and recording objectionable videos to threaten and exploit them repeatedly.

Rape

FIR Filed After Dalit Survivor Approaches Police

The case came to light after one of the survivors, a Dalit woman from Baberu area, filed a formal complaint at the Kotwali police station late Saturday night. Based on her statement, an FIR has been registered against:

  • Ashish Agarwal – resident near District Council Square

  • Swatantra Sahu – resident near DAV Inter College, Aliganj

  • Lokendra Singh Chandel – resident of Palhari village, behind the RTO office

The complaint alleges that the three victims — all close friends from different localities — were lured with promises of employment. The women were introduced to the accused by Naveen Kumar, a local man from Aliganj, who arranged their meeting with the three businessmen.

Allegations of Assault and Threats

According to the FIR, the accused forcibly served alcohol to the women, raped them, and then filmed them in a compromising state without their consent. When the women distanced themselves and questioned the job promises, the accused allegedly showed them the explicit videos and threatened to leak them online if they did not comply with further demands.

The survivor stated that the women were subjected to repeated blackmail and abuse, which continued until she gathered courage and approached the Circle Officer (CO) City with the full account of the incidents.

Police Action Underway

While no arrests have been made as of this report, police officials have confirmed that a case has been registered and a thorough investigation is in progress. The accused reportedly have strong business backgrounds, with one linked to the gutkha (chewing tobacco) industry and the others operating sizable local enterprises.

A senior police officer said, “We are verifying all the facts and gathering technical and testimonial evidence. The case involves serious charges and will be handled with utmost sensitivity.”

Legal and Social Impact

The incident has sparked outrage on social media and among women’s rights groups, who are demanding swift arrests and justice for the survivors. It also raises broader concerns about safety, caste-based exploitation, and abuse of power by influential figures in smaller towns.

As per sources, the police are also checking the digital trail of the alleged videos, along with verifying the locations, communications, and connections between the accused and the survivors.
