Train Alert: Kanpur–Jammu & 2 More Express Train Pairs Cancelled Till April 30; Routes Changed for Several Trains

If you’re planning to travel to Jammu or via Uttar Pradesh in the coming weeks, take note. Due to non-interlocking and reconstruction work at Jammu Railway Station and automatic signaling installation on the Gorakhpur–Gonda rail section, several trains have been cancelled or had their routes diverted.

3 Express Train Pairs Cancelled Till April 30

As per official updates, the following trains have been fully cancelled due to operational work from March 26 to April 30, 2025:

  1. Kanpur Central – Jammu Tawi Express (12469/12470) – Cancelled for 11 scheduled trips.

  2. Barauni – Jammu Tawi Weekly Express (14691/14692) – Cancelled from March 30 to April 27.

  3. Yog Nagari Rishikesh – Jammu Express (14605/14606) – Cancelled from March 24 to April 27.

This cancellation will particularly impact Vaishno Devi pilgrims, with limited rail options to Jammu during this period.

Route Diversions on March 28 & 29 Due to Signaling Work

Due to automatic signaling commissioning work between Basti and Govind Nagar stations, 17 trains will operate via alternate routes on March 28 and 29. These trains will run via the Gonda–Badhni–Gorakhpur route instead of Gonda–Basti–Gorakhpur.

Major Trains Affected by Route Diversion:

  • 14674 Amritsar–Jaynagar Express (28 Mar): Will skip Mankapur, Babhnaan, Basti, and Khalilabad.

  • 14692 Jammu Tawi–Barauni Express (28 Mar): Will not stop at Basti.

  • 09451 Gandhidham–Bhagalpur Special (28 Mar): Will bypass Basti.

  • 05577 Saharsa–Anand Vihar Special (28 Mar): No halt at Basti.

  • 12565 Darbhanga–New Delhi Express (29 Mar): Route changed.

  • 12557 Muzaffarpur–Anand Vihar Express (29 Mar): Rerouted via Badhni.

  • 14617 Purnia Court–Amritsar Express (29 Mar): Will not stop at Basti.

  • 12556 Bathinda–Gorakhpur Express (29 Mar): Skips Mankapur, Babhnaan, Basti, Khalilabad.

Official Statement

According to Pankaj Kumar Singh, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Railway, the route changes are temporary but necessary for long-term improvements to signaling and station infrastructure. Passengers are advised to verify train schedules before travel and plan accordingly.
