The court said that both accused have been in custody for a long time. The maximum sentence in this case is seven years and the accused have spent good time in custody. The court also said that the co-accused in this case, Preeti Chandra and Rajesh Malik, have already been granted bail.

They have spent around one and a half years in custody. During the hearing, lawyers for the accused, Arshdeep Singh and Vishal Gosain, said that the trial in this case will take a long time because there are 71 accused and 121 witnesses and documents in lakhs. ED’s lawyer NK Matta opposed the bail application, saying that the allegations against Sanjay and Ajay Chandra are different from those against other co-accused.

It is noteworthy that the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had arrested Sanjay Chandra on March 31, 2017, on charges of financial irregularities. He was charged under Sections 420, 406 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code. He was accused of investing funds from one project into another project in an improper manner. Sanjay Chandra was arrested following complaints from investors.
