ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 : Disney+ Hotstar Brings Dolby Vision to Live Sports Streaming in India

Disney+ Hotstar has announced that it will offer live sports streaming in Dolby Vision in India. The company announced that upcoming live sporting events in the country, including cricket matches, Super 8 matches and the semi-finals and finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, will be streamed live on Dolby Vision on the streaming platform. This makes Disney+ Hotstar the first video streaming service in the world to support live cricket streaming in Dolby Vision.

Disney+ Hotstar will broadcast the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in Dolby Vision

Disney+ Hotstar has announced that streaming in Dolby Vision will only be available for premium subscribers. The technology allows viewers to experience “true colors, sharp contrast and rich details,” according to the platform.

“We are excited to bring Dolby Vision to our exclusive users so they can experience the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2024 like never before,” said Mukund Acharya, Head of Engineering, Disney+, Hotstar, in a statement.

The premium plan supports streaming the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2024 in Dolby Vision, but Disney+ Hotstar said only 4K TVs compatible with the technology can benefit from it. However, the announcement makes no mention of support for similar streaming on smartphones that are also Dolby Vision certified.

In this regard, Airtel has announced new plans for its prepaid, postpaid and Xstream Fiber broadband customers that include data limit of up to 3GB per day and free Disney+ Hotstar subscription. These designs have been introduced with the aim of maximizing the viewing experience of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Cricket highlights on ShareChat, Moj

Earlier this month, Disney+ Hotstar also announced a partnership with social media platform ShareChat. This means that the game highlights will also be distributed on ShareChat and Moj’s short video stream, which is also owned by ShareChat.

Following this announcement, fans can now experience exciting moments with short clips on boundaries, wickets and fielding in regional languages. Additionally, studio analysis clips featuring cricket commentators will also be available on both platforms.
