Udaipur, December 4 (Udaipur Kiran): On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a sensitivity and awareness campaign was organised by Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, Udaipur. The programme was conducted in collaboration with Mohanlal Sukhadia University and Foster Care Society through a rally.

The rally started from Surajpol Circle and concluded at Town Hall. It was led by PIMS psychologist Indrapal Salvi and Foster Care Society staff members Anjum Sheikh and Lavesh Prajapat. A total of 42 students and staff members participated, including students from MLSU, staff and interns from Foster Care Society, and faculty members and students of PIMS.
After reaching Town Hall, the programme was addressed by experts and guests. Dr Praveen Khairkar, Head of the Psychiatry Department at PIMS, psychologist Indrapal Salvi and MLSU students shared information on the 21 types of disabilities mentioned in the RPWD Act, 2016, along with facilities and provisions available for persons with disabilities in the judicial system.
Advocate Bharat Kumawat highlighted the legal rights and protections available to persons with disabilities and stressed the importance of understanding the legal system. The programme successfully promoted awareness among youth and the community and strengthened the message of inclusion, equal opportunity and empowerment for persons with disabilities.
