Architects Laddha and Kothari’s Unique Initiative Begins from Gogunda on Maharana Pratap’s Coronation Anniversary
Udaipur, February 28 – In a remarkable effort to showcase the hidden, untold, and unexplored facets of Mewar’s rich history, archaeology, environment, and cultural heritage, Udaipur-based architects Sunil S. Laddha and Priyanka Kothari have launched a documentary series titled ‘Andekha’.
The first episode, dedicated to the historic coronation site of Maharana Pratap in Gogunda, was released on February 28, marking the anniversary of his ascension to the throne in 1572. The premiere event took place on the eve of this historic occasion, in the presence of dignitaries, local residents, and historians at the Panchayat Samiti Auditorium in Gogunda.
A Moment of Pride for Gogunda
The ceremonial launch of the documentary’s first episode was attended by Deputy Head Laxman Singh Jhala, former Deputy Head Pappu Rana, BJP Mandal President Nikhil Kothari, Advocate Khuman Singh Rao, Advocate Bhawani Singh Makwana, Prithvi Singh Chadana, and Kashi Ram, among other notable figures.
Speakers at the event emphasized the historical significance of Gogunda, highlighting that this sacred land witnessed the coronation of the great warrior Maharana Pratap on February 28, 1572. They applauded the documentary’s initiative to bring forth lesser-known stories of the region’s past, ensuring that Mewar’s legacy reaches a wider audience.
The attendees also reaffirmed their commitment to the preservation and promotion of heritage sites associated with Maharana Pratap, recognizing their immense cultural and historical value.

During the screening of the first episode, architects Sunil S. Laddha and Priyanka Kothari delved into Gogunda’s glorious past, shedding light on the significance of the coronation site, the architectural marvel of Mahadev ki Baori, and its cultural essence.
The documentary leverages advanced AI technology to recreate the ancient structure of the stepwell, illustrating its original grandeur. One of the most captivating moments was the virtual demonstration of a working Persian wheel (rahat), along with a theatrical visualization where audiences were seated on the historic steps, offering an immersive experience.
The audience was visibly thrilled and mesmerized by the visual storytelling, which blended historical accuracy with modern cinematic techniques.
Collaboration of Experts & Historians in Documentary Creation
Architect Laddha credited the success of the episode to the contributions of local scholars, historian Jitendra Suthar, and Maharana Pratap’s descendant, Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar. The documentary was directed by renowned filmmaker Jitendra Shastri, ensuring authenticity and high production value.
The ‘Andekha’ documentary series is now available on YouTube under the channel ‘Andekha for You’, making it accessible to a global audience interested in Mewar’s forgotten history.
