Allegations Against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Intensify, Demands for Drug Test Rise

Chandigarh, May 1: The Shiromani Akali Dal has leveled serious allegations against Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, questioning his conduct. The party shared a video on the social media platform ‘X’, claiming that the Chief Minister appeared in a state of intoxication during the assembly session on the occasion of ‘Labour Day’.

The party criticized this behavior as a violation of the dignity of the house, stating that it is shameful for the Chief Minister to arrive in such a condition at the sacred assembly.

The Akali Dal remarked, “You can see for yourself how the Chief Minister is behaving in the assembly.” They condemned the entire incident, asserting that he should not have attended the session under the influence of alcohol.

Furthermore, the party has demanded a drug test for the Chief Minister in front of the entire state, to bring the truth to light.

Other opposition leaders have also raised questions regarding this issue. Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa mentioned that former Aam Aadmi Party leader Sukhpial Khaira has accused the Chief Minister of being intoxicated in the assembly. He expressed hope that the Speaker would take cognizance of the matter and order a drug test.

Congress MLA Sukhpial Singh Khaira stated that Bhagwant Mann’s drinking is not a new issue, as he does this habitually. Congress MLA Pargat Singh added that after Khaira’s allegations, they have requested the Speaker to conduct a drug test in the house.

Meanwhile, BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar also responded to the issue, stating in a post on ‘X’ that while a regular session is important, a special session holds even greater significance. He suggested that if leaders entering the assembly undergo a breathalyzer test, many truths may come to light.

As of now, there has been no official response from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann or his party regarding this matter.
