Kurnool, October 24 (Udaipur Kiran): A major road accident occurred near Ullindakonda Junction in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh early Thursday morning, where a Kaveri Travels bus traveling from Bengaluru to Hyderabad caught fire after a collision with a two-wheeler. The bus was completely gutted in flames, and several passengers are feared dead.

According to reports, there were around 40 passengers on board when the incident took place around 3:30 a.m. Witnesses said that after the collision, the bus suddenly burst into flames, trapping many passengers inside.
At least 12 passengers managed to escape by breaking open the emergency exit and sustained only minor injuries. They were immediately rushed to the Kurnool Government General Hospital for treatment. The bus driver and his assistant narrowly escaped the blaze.
Police and fire department teams rushed to the spot upon receiving the alert. Firefighters battled the flames and managed to extinguish the fire after several hours. The accident occurred just a few kilometers before the bus was scheduled to reach Kurnool city.
Eyewitnesses said the accident took place amid heavy rain, which may have hampered rescue efforts. Several injured passengers from another vehicle passing by assisted in transporting victims to the hospital.
Preliminary reports suggest that most of the passengers were from Hyderabad. Some of the survivors have been identified as Ramireddy, Venugopal Reddy, Satyanarayana, Srilakshmi, Naveen Kumar, Akhil, Jashmita, Akira, Ramesh, Jaysurya, and Subramanyam.
Authorities have expressed fear that at least 20 people may have lost their lives, though an official confirmation from the district administration is still awaited.
