YouTube is testing a new feature that will allow users to pause video playback if they fall asleep while watching content. This synced timer is a new beta feature from the video streaming giant and is available for a limited time. Based on the reputation, the company can later make it widely available to all users. YouTube announced the availability of the sleep timer feature in a post on its website. “The sleep timer allows you to set a timer that automatically stops playback after a certain amount of time,” the company explains the feature.

It is also very easy to use. Users open the YouTube app on their smartphone or the web client on their phone or desktop and go to the settings menu (the gear icon in the top right corner of the video interface) while the video is playing. Users must log in to their account to access this feature.

The sleep timer feature in the settings menu offers options to stop playback after 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 and 60 minutes. There is also an option to stop autoplay after the video ends. This feature is currently only available to YouTube Premium users.

Since this is an experimental feature, users must manually enable the experimental feature to access this feature. To do this, premium users can go to the settings on the YouTube homepage and try out the new experimental functions. Please note that this feature is currently only available until September 2nd.
