YouTube Tests New ‘Hype’ Feature, Boosting Community Engagement for Small Creators

YouTube is testing new ways to offer more community support to small content creators, the company announced Monday. The feature, called “Hype,” will be available to viewers in select regions. Content producers who meet the criteria will be eligible for this new program. This is just one of the features the video streaming platform has developed and may even introduce, alongside the reported sleep timer.

YouTube Tests New ‘Hype’ Feature

Hype YouTube feature

Details about the new “Hype” feature were posted by a community expert on the YouTube support page. According to the post, viewers in Brazil, Turkey and Taiwan can now “promote” a video instead of “liking” it, increasing its rank among other videos posted on Masu. According to the company, the more your video is promoted, the higher its ranking will be.

Now viewers can like and share videos they like, which helps creators. Additionally, options like Super Chat and Super Sticker allow you to gain financial benefits in addition to advertising revenue.

YouTube says it displays reviews based on “hype” in the Explore tab. The move is intended to allow small content creators to increase community support and reach a larger audience.

However, there is a catch. According to the video streaming platform, only YouTube Partner Program creators with fewer than 500,000 subscribers are eligible for the Hype Program. Additionally, all videos must comply with YouTube Community Guidelines. This initiative is still in the pilot phase and it is not clear whether more content will be made available to creators in the future.

Notes on YouTube

YouTube announced on June 17 that users would be able to post comments under videos to provide better context. The video streaming platform is rolling it out as a trial feature in English for users in the US.

According to YouTube, users will find a new way to add notes below the video. You can use the text boxes to provide more context and then click Send to publish your note. YouTube claims that the published notes do not contain the names of their creators.
