Jaipur, May 1: Rajasthan Royals’ opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has made history by hitting a six on the very first ball of his innings for the fourth time in IPL history. This remarkable feat places him at the top of the list. During the match held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaiswal sent the first delivery from Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler Mitchell Starc over the boundary.
In the list of players who have hit sixes on the first ball of their innings in IPL matches, Priyansh Arya ranks second with two occurrences. Other players like Naman Ojha, Mayank Agarwal, Sunil Narine, Virat Kohli, Robin Uthappa, Phil Salt, and Sanju Samson have each achieved this once.
Additionally, Jaiswal has become the fifth player to hit a six on the first ball of an IPL match. The first instance occurred in 2009 when Naman Ojha (RR) hit a six off Brad Hodge (KKR). In IPL 2019, Virat Kohli (RCB) accomplished this against Varun Aaron (RR). In IPL 2024, Nuwan Tushara (MI) hit Phil Salt (KKR) for a six on the first ball, and in IPL 2025, Priyansh Arya (PBKS) did the same off Khaleel Ahmed (CSK).
After hitting the six on the first ball, Jaiswal played a dot on the next delivery and then caught out Starc on the third ball.
Under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan Royals fielded a team that included Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryaanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubham Dubey, Jofra Archer, Ravi Bishnoi, Nandre Burger, and Brajesh Sharma.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, featured KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Kyle Jamieson, Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and T Natarajan.
With six wins out of nine matches, Rajasthan Royals currently hold the fourth position in the points table. If they secure a victory against DC, they will rise to second place with 14 points. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals, having lost five out of eight matches, sit in seventh place and aim to improve their standing with a win in this match.
