Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has begun rolling out a new feature called Channels for Android and iOS users. This feature will allow users to create and subscribe to one-way broadcast channels.
With the Channels feature, users can create a channel to share updates, news, or other content with a large audience. Channels can be public or private, and users can subscribe to channels from their contacts or from a search.
When a user creates a channel, they can choose a name, a description, and a cover photo. They can also choose whether the channel is public or private.
Once a channel is created, users can start posting updates. Updates can be text, photos, videos, or documents. Users can also add polls and questions to their updates.
When a user subscribes to a channel, they will receive notifications when the channel owner posts a new update. Users can also view the channel’s updates in a dedicated tab in the WhatsApp app.
The Channels feature is still under development, but it is now available for a limited number of users. Meta plans to roll out the feature to all users in the coming weeks.
