vivo made its first major launch of 2025 with the vivo V50, unveiled earlier this week at an event in New Delhi, India. While the smartphone is yet to go on sale, we have received the device for review, and here’s a first look at what it brings to the table.

Unboxing and First Impressions
The vivo V50’s retail box maintains the familiar packaging of its predecessor, the V40. Inside, you’ll find standard accessories including documentation, a SIM ejector tool, a charging cable, power adapter, and a protective case—which comes in clear or black, depending on the region.
Display and Build Quality
The vivo V50 sports a 6.77-inch Full HD+ quad-curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 4,500 nits peak brightness. It is protected by Diamond Shield Glass and supports HDR10+ for an enhanced viewing experience.
A 50MP selfie camera with autofocus sits inside a punch-hole cutout, while an under-display fingerprint scanner provides biometric security. Although the scanner is fast and accurate, we found its placement slightly lower than ideal for quick unlocking.
On the back, the camera module retains a design similar to the V40. The phone is available in three colors in India—Titanium Grey, Rose Red, and Starry Night. Notably, the Titanium Grey variant features a plastic back and weighs 189g, while the other two sport glass backs and weigh 199g.
Camera and Photography Features
The vivo V50 comes with a dual rear-camera setup, including:
- 50MP primary sensor (OIS, OmniVision OV50e)
- 50MP ultrawide camera (119˚ FOV, Samsung ISOCELL JN1)
An Aura Light flash accompanies the cameras, allowing users to manually adjust brightness and color temperature for ideal shots. vivo has also integrated ZEISS optics, offering three focal lengths for portrait shots—23mm, 35mm, and 50mm—along with ZEISS bokeh effects.
A key highlight for Indian users is the Wedding Portrait Studio feature, which includes three distinct portrait styles: Prosecco, Neo Retro, and Pastel.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset powers the vivo V50, paired with:
- Up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM
- Up to 512GB UFS 2.2 storage
The phone runs on Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 and promises three major Android OS upgrades and four years of monthly security updates. Notably, vivo has minimized bloatware, with just five pre-installed third-party apps (Amazon, Facebook, LinkedIn, Netflix, PhonePe), all of which can be uninstalled.
Battery and Additional Features
One of the biggest highlights is its 6,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging support, ensuring long-lasting power. Other features include:
- IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance
- Dual stereo speakers for immersive audio
Final Thoughts
The vivo V50 shapes up as a feature-rich mid-range smartphone with a focus on camera innovation, battery life, and premium build quality. With its high refresh rate display, ZEISS-enhanced photography, and fast-charging capabilities, it looks promising.
