Video Story : Heavy Rainfall Causes Havoc in Udaipur

Udaipur : The city of Udaipur and its surrounding areas have been experiencing heavy rainfall since early morning, leading to several disruptions.

Highway Jam: The Udaipur-Ahmedabad National Highway was completely blocked for over six hours due to waterlogging. The worst-affected area was Parsad police station, where the highway was inundated, causing long traffic jams. Vehicles were stranded for hours, and passengers, including children, faced great inconvenience. The jam was finally cleared around 1:15 PM.

Infrastructure Damage: The heavy downpour has caused significant damage to infrastructure. A bridge in Morwania collapsed due to the strong water current, and an embankment in Jhador was washed away. Additionally, a newly constructed embankment in Sultan Ji ka Kherwara village also collapsed, cutting off the village from Wagda. Locals have alleged that the embankment was constructed using substandard materials.

Rainfall: Udaipur received the highest rainfall of 6.5 inches in the past 24 hours, followed by Badgaon with 4 inches and several other areas with 3 to 3.5 inches. The incessant rain has led to a rise in water levels in lakes like Fatehsagar, Swरूपsagar, and Udayasagar.

Rescue Operations: District Collector Arvind Poswal has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to carry out relief operations. The administration is working to restore the damaged infrastructure and clear the roads.

Overall, the heavy rainfall has caused widespread disruption in Udaipur, affecting transportation, infrastructure, and daily life.
