New Delhi, 2 September (Kiran News): UAE captain Muhammad Waseem achieved a significant milestone in Sharjah on Monday during a tri-series match against Afghanistan, breaking the record for the most sixes hit by a captain in T20 International cricket. Waseem surpassed Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s previous record in this format.

In the third over of UAE’s innings, Waseem smashed two consecutive sixes off Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, marking his achievement. He went on to score a blazing 67 runs off 37 balls, hitting a total of six sixes in his innings. However, his efforts were not enough to secure a win for his team, as UAE finished at 150 for 8 while chasing a target of 188.
With this feat, Muhammad Waseem now has 110 sixes as T20I captain. Previously, Rohit Sharma held the record with 105 sixes in 35 matches as captain. Waseem has now moved to the top of the list.
