Truecaller Web Interface With Unknown Number Lookup, SMS Messaging Support Launched

Truecaller for Web was launched by the company on Wednesday as a new way to access the platform when users’ Android smartphones are not nearby. Users can now log into Truecaller’s web interface to look up numbers and send messages to their contacts via SMS or chat. When the Truecaller web interface loads, you will also be presented with automatically categorized messages. It currently works with Android smartphones, but the company doesn’t say when and if iPhone support will begin.

The Swedish company previously allowed users to search for unknown numbers on websites after signing up, but the newly launched Truecaller web interface brings more functionality from the Android app to the browser. By linking the web client with Truecaller on a smartphone, users can search for unknown numbers by typing or pasting the number into the search bar, even when their phone is not nearby.

Incoming call notifications appear on your computer connected to Truecaller on your Android smartphone. Other services, like Microsoft’s Phone Link app, don’t have a feature to search for unknown numbers, but allow you to see notifications of incoming calls (including phone calls) even when your phone isn’t nearby.

Users can view and use their PC (or laptop) keyboard to respond to Truecaller SMS and chat messages on their computer, which are divided into three categories: Inbox, Ads and Spam. The company says you can also mark outgoing messages as urgent using the web interface. The web interface also allows you to attach files up to 100MB in size.

To access Truecaller for the web, users need to install Truecaller on their Android smartphone and a modern web browser such as Firefox, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Windows or macOS. Users can sign in to Truecaller for web using the QR code displayed on your website by going to the Messages tab and tapping the More > Messages for web > Device link. This feature is only supported on Android smartphones, so iPhone owners don’t have access to the same functionality.
